Skateboard CampThe Skateboard Facility at Windell’s camp has been an annual expansion project since 1989. This season there has been well over 500 hours of intense ramp construction, resurfacing and maintaining all of the ramps. We have 3 skate coaches on hand every day to teach everyone, from the first timers to the experts. Taking a walk through the sk8 park in back of the camp brings you to the 11.5’ tall and 32’ wide vert ramp.This thing is impressive! Next to the vert is a mini spine ramp, just close enough to transfer back and forth.This ramp is connected to another spine ramp with a 90 degree hip. It’s basically a "L" shaped double spine with a hip! After becoming more aware of the heavily wooded surroundings, you will notice a mysterious staircase leading to what appears to be a rooftop full of screaming people. In fact, what they’re excited about is the sound that 80’ of grindable pool coping makes when it’s worked right. The bowl has 7 pockets, 2 hips, 1 extension, 1 bell shaped extension, a 16" wide spine blended smoothly by 2 of the pockets and my favorite, "the escalating pool coping pocket" The height of the bowl varies from 4’ to 7’ so it’s great for beginners as well as for more advanced riders.
